She smiled a little as his old self came flashing back as he asked if she would miss him. She would. She would miss him teasing her and trying to pick her up and making her feel uncomfortable. She would miss all of it. She looked up at him. Her face was still filled with worry but she couldn't help it.
"How can I not worry, Kaiden? You could have died tonight. I don't want that to happen."
She watched him for a second. He could do nothing but lay there right now. he was too hurt to even move and she couldn't help but worry about him. Lately she had caught herself thinking about him more and more. She didn't understand it at first but now she finally was starting to. She sighed and looked away from his eyes.
"I care about you, Kaiden. More than I thought I did...."

"I could have died a lot of times." He answered her truthfully but it seemed that it had really hit her at home for some reason. Why all of this all of the sudden? He frowned a little as she looked away from him.
"Why do you think its more than you should?" He asked out of curiousity more than anything. It wasn't strange for someone to care about their Alpha. The Alpha was the leader, practically a parental figure. But was she really feeling that ashamed for how much she cared about him?
Though Kaiden did know that if the situation had been reversed, he would have already tracked the vampire down and ripped him to pieces. But that was a right an Alpha had he supposed.
He tugged on her hand slightly, urging her to move from the coffee table to sit down next to him on the couch. There was just enough room for her to sit without having to lean on him, which was good considering his condition. He wanted a better look at her since it seemed that this whole situation turned to a more sorrowed note.

Keertana felt the tug on her hand and she moved over to the couch. She sat down on the edge just far enough away from him so as not to lean on him but just close enough to the point where she realized this was the closest she had eve been to him while being serious.
Why did she care this much about him? It was taking all she could to not go and find Alexander and rip him to pieces. She was forcing herself to stay put. She told herself that it was to help him if he needed anything but the truth was it was so she wouldn't cause the war. He was her Alpha. She should feel this way to a point but there was more. She wanted to take all his pain away. It was killing her to see him like this. She looked him in the eyes. She was scared for him. She was scared that the vampires would come after him and try and finish the job.
"You're my Alpha....I didn't want to feel this way about you. I wanted it to stay at the innocent flirting and you constantly trying to come onto to me. But that was it. Now...it's different."

Kaiden arched a brow at her and frowned. "What's wrong with feeling that way?" It wasn't like he had a mate or anything. She wasn't making any sense to him. What made caring about him such a bad thing?
And what was different? She was confusing the hell out of him. Sure he was a womanizer, but that was only because he had no woman of his own. He had to get around to see what it was that he wanted and who had it. He may not have had Keertana in his bed but she still was way ahead of the others in his mind. She was strong and determined as well as caring and nurturing. Her small run as the Beta was enough to reaffirm what he suspected in her character. He couldn't allow her to feel so..guilty..upset...whatever it was that she was feeling.
He'd never understand women fully...
Kaiden made a bold move then, he grabbed her by the collar of her shirt gently but firmly and pulled her towards him. At this point he didn't care if she leaned on him, it would kind of be impossible to not. He pushed away the thoughts of pain while he had her lean over him, face to face before he kissed her. It was a stolen kiss, but maybe it would settle her mind. Or he'd get slapped, one of the two.

Her mind was racing as she thought about what she had just said to him. Why was she constantly spilling her guts out to him? This was the second time she had let him see the real her. She hadn't let anyone see the real her in a long time and then this cocky, womanizing wolf comes along and she can't help herself.
Keertana was about to just say goodnight and go crawl in her bed. To leave it at where she left it and never visit this subject again. She went to turn and stand up from the couch when he felt his hand at her collar pulling her down. She only got a split second to look in his eyes with a surprised look before his lips were on hers in a kiss. She had a slight feeling to push him off of her like she probably would have done before but her other emotions took over and she fell into the kiss. Her hand moved to hold his face as she kissed him back. What the hell was happening right now? Her heart was beating faster and there were butterflies sin her stomach. His kiss made her skin tingle and want to change even more just to run with him.

Kaiden smirked a little into that kiss, mostly since she didn't pull away from him. He deserved the slap if he'd gotten it, but it seemed he might have made the right call. He was also far from being in any sort of condition to do much more.
Once he felt content enough with that kiss he let the collar of her shirt go while his lips pulled away from hers and his eyes opened. He wasn't going to keep her there, if she wanted to run then she could. That kiss alone answered questions for him, whether she wanted it to or not. She could lie to him, but he would know differently.
His eyes continued to look into her own, curious to see what she would do next. His curiousity was enough to repel the pain he was feeling for the time being. He could be in pain later...right now all his attention was on her.

She sat there for a second just staring into his eyes. She didn't know what to do now. Was he doing this because he was in pain and was not in his right mind? Or was this something different? He didn't have a mate and neither did she. It felt so right to be here with him but her mind kept telling her no. But was it just the part of her mind that had shut him down so many times? Her hand stayed on his cheek as she looked at him.
Keertana didn't want the kiss to end but it did just as abruptly as it began. Her body wanted to stay leaning on his but her mind told her to pull back. He was still in pain she knew her body leaning on his was probably causing him more. She reluctantly pulled back from him. Her hand trailing from his face and down to rest on his chest. She felt his heart beat underneath her hand. Her eyes still stayed on his. She had to smile from that constant smirk that was on his lips now.
"Kaiden....I'm not like those other females you go after. I'm not going to chase you while you go from one female to another. So here's my question....what do you want?"

"What do you want?" He looked at her in all seriousness. If she didn't want anything to do with him then she had to say it. He wasn't going to put words in her mouth. He made the first move, it was her turn to do something with it.
Kaiden felt a little relieved when she moved away from him, mainly due to the pain in his ribs. He could breathe again. But his face never faultered as he watched her, watched her eyes and facial expressions. He wanted to see what she was thinking but he also wanted to hear it.
It was up to her, if she wanted to drop it he'd move on. But he knew that she was probably the best mate he could ever ask for. That is, if she even wanted to be stuck with him.

She was a little surprised by his question in turn. It was the same she had asked but she hadn't been prepared for it. What did she want? At first she had just wanted to fit in. Then she had wanted to escape her past. After that she had wanted to make her family proud. Now here she was sitting with Kaiden wondering what she wanted now. She kept her gave fixated on his. She knew. She entwined her hand in his and lifted it to her lips and kissed it. She would have given him a real kiss as her answer but she didn't want to hurt him again.
"I want you. I want this."
She held onto his hand and thought about what she had just said. She did want this. Well, not exactly this situation right now but she wanted him. She wanted to be his mate. She wanted to be stuck with him for life. But did he want the same? Keertana tried to read his face but she couldn't get anything from it.

He watched her as she picked up his hand and kissed it like that. It was rather tender of her and made him smirk. "You sure?" He wasn't so sure that she was. It seemed like she was all over the place. He didn't want her to jump to this conclusion just because it seemed good at the time. As well as he didn't want her to feel this way just because he was hurt.
He pushed himself upward to sit up so he could look her in the eyes again. The hand that wasn't in hers moved to wrap around the back of her head. He used the leverage almost in a way to force her to look at him. Yea it hurt to sit this way but he didn't care right now. He stared her in the eyes. "You have to be sure Keertana. This has to make you happy. If it doesn't then it's not worth doing, or even trying." He refused to let his pack suffer for any turmoil that may be caused by his mate and himself not getting along. A fight now and then was inevitable, but anything like a 'divorce' tore a pack apart and destroyed it from the inside. No one would know where to stand or who to stand with. He would not alienate them like that.

Keertana looked him in the eyes. She was sure. Her mind had been going over this for the past couple weeks. The only reason she had pushed the thoughts away was because she thought that she didn't want him. But now she was realizing that that was a lie. He was meant for her. Right now she found herself thinking that maybe her father had sent him to her. It would be like him to send her an Alpha. She nodded her head.
"I'm sure, Kaiden. I think I've wanted this for awhile I just couldn't admit it to myself. You make me happy. Happier than I've been in a long time. You brought out the real me when I was hiding behind a mask trying to be someone I'm not."
She had noticed the pained look in his eye as he had sat up and she wished that he hadn't. She hated seeing him in pain. She just wished his healing factor would kick in fast so she wouldn't have to see him in pain anymore. But she would be here to take care of him. She would take care of him for the rest of their lives.

Kaiden's hand moved down slightly so his thumb could brush over her cheek. His eyes never left her as he listened to her. He was happy to hear those words from her. He believed her, but he couldn't help wondering if she really knew what she was getting herself into.
His eyes locked with hers. He stayed silent for a long moment just looking at her. It was almost like he was sizing her up, he knew she could do it, he knew she was the one he wanted. "Next Moon you will run by my side.." He stated that like an order but he waited for to say something before he said something else. "We'll hunt and feed our pack."
There would certainly be other types of celebrating during that night, but he decided to keep this conversation on the serious side. Not to mention sitting like this was still hurting him. His muscles were quivering as he sat there but he wasn't going to budge. This was important.

Our pack. He had said Our pack. Her heart lifted as he spoke. She would run by his side wherever he went. She knew that now. She knew that this wasn't just something that would last a couple months or maybe a couple years. This was for life. Wolves mated for life. There was no going back from this and she was ready. She had been ready for a long time.
"I'll run with you always."
Keertana watched his muscles quiver and she put her hand on his chest and slowly lowered him back down to the couch. She couldn't have him hurting because of her. She broke a smile and a small laugh as she thought of the other females in the pack. The ones who had been chasing after Kaiden ever since he became their Alpha. They had mocked her for not wanting him. For not chasing him like all the others. Oh how surprised they would be now.
"There's going to be some broken hearted females in our pack after they find out."

He gave up his grip upon her head as she pushed him back down on the couch. He winced a little and smirked to her. Thoughts ran through his mind of their Run. He wanted to go run with her right then and there. There was no way he could, but the desire was still there.
"You may have to watch your back for awhile." He spoke in complete seriousness. He wanted it to be a joke but it wouldn't surprise him if she had her own challenges to contend with. Hell he might even have his own challenges for her. While their bond would be permanent, that didn't mean no one wouldn't try to get between them. Even with the challenges put aside, she would have to prove to the pack that she was a good Alpha. She proved that being a Beta was easy to her, so perhaps it would be a smoother transition that what it could have been.

"I can handle myself. If they want to challenge me then they're in for a fight that they will lose. I'm not giving you up for anything, Kaiden. Especially to some jealous Tail-girl."
Tail-girl was what she called the females in the pack who hadn't found a mate yet but still slept around. She had never and would never be a Tail-girl. But he was right. She had to watch her back. Once the pack knew of Kaiden choosing her as a mate there would most likely be a target on her back for the other females. But if they wanted a fight then she wouldn't back down. She also had to prove to the rest of that pack that she was worthy to be the Alpha Female. It didn't matter if Kaiden chose her or not. She had to earn the pack's respect and loyalty.
Keertana lifted her hand to surpress a yawn. She was tired but she didn't want to leave his side. She wanted to stay there with him. He was in no condition to move or else she would offer for them to sleep in her bed where there was more room. Then she wouldn't have to leave his side. But she didn't want to put him through the pain so she tried to hide that she was tired as she sat there and watched him.
