Start Date: 3/10/12
Keertana had been busy all day. She had been running around the town trying to calm things down. A couple fights had broken out between some member of the pack she had dealt with. They were all getting uneasy and she knew they needed to hunt very soon or something worse might happen.
Countless others had been at her house looking for advice on various subjects. They all knew she was the Beta now so they had kept her rather busy instead of bugging Kaiden. She had helped all of them and had not complained once. She was good at this she found out. Her father's leadership skills had followed her in life it seemed. Her mother's caring and advice giving nature had followed her as well.
Now she was at home trying to relax finally. She was wearing a pair of tight, black yoga pants and a white, lace cami. Her feet were bare and her hair was pulled up in a messy bun on top of her head. She stretched out on the couch and flipped through the channels on the television trying to find something to watch. Her attention was soon pulled away by a knock on the door. Who was it now at this time of night? Keertana got up and walked to the door. She opened it and her mouth dropped at the sight of Kaiden in front of her.
"Kaiden! What...what happened to you?!"

Maybe next time? He growled in frustration. He just got his ass kicked by a vampire. It was more than humiliating. With the vampire gone he groaned and turned his body to laid on his side for a moment. He coughed up a bit of blood before he moved to his knees. His feet were put underneath him and pushed himself upward. He stumbled towards a tree and held his arm up to brace himself. Lucky for him there hadn't been any broken bones.
He took a step forward and winced in pain. Okay..maybe not entirely no broken bones. He at least had a few broken ribs and he wasn't so sure his jaw was in one piece either. Kaiden started moving forward, it was all he could do, his feet brought him back towards the houses one agonizing step after the other. He had to keep moving. He felt his body struggle with healing himself and then he thought about it. Damned vampire bite probably did this. Leeches...
He thought about just going home, letting himself heal or die in privacy of his own livingroom. But before he even realized it himself, he had found himself infront of Keertana's house. He moved to knock on her door but ended up falling into it slightly for the moment. He frowned when he saw her reaction. Great...this wasn't the way he wanted to be seen, but it was too late now. "Can..I come in?" He doubted she'd say no but he thought he'd ask before he bled all over her floor.

"Of course! Let's get you inside."
Keertana helped him inside her house. He was bleeding a lot but right now she didn't car. He was hurt and she had to help him. Her mother had taught her a solution to get blood out of things anyways so it wasn't like it mattered if he ruined anything. She helped him to the couch she had just been sitting on and she ran to the kitchen to grab a glass of water for him and some healing supplies she had.
She walked back over to him and started to clean his wounds. She was legit worried about him right now and she was determined to heal every wound on his body. Even his ego if she had to. She looked up at him.
"What happened?"

He let her take him over to the couch and laid there thankfully. It was nice to lay on something that was softer than the ground. He really didn't want to talk about it. But he had to. If he could talk to anyone without judgement it should be his Beta...right? Kaiden looked at Keertana as she started to clean up his wounds.
"I ran into Alexander. Bastard bit me." He growled and suprisingly let her work. Had it been any other fight he probably would have pushed her away to let him lick his own wounds. But these wounds weren't normal ones, he couldn't remember being this far beaten. The wolf inside of him still screamed that he should have transformed and taught that vampire a real lesson. "He started the fight...and I wouldn't let myself change..."
Though now that he told her about it, he felt like he was a loser. He should have shifted...he should have ripped that vampire to pieces. This wasn't over...

Keertana was listening to him as she cleaned his wounds. They were deep and pretty bad. Her eyes looked up to his neck which had been torn apart. They then widened as he said that he had run into Alexander. He was the Council Elder for the Vampires. But what she was really shocked about was the fact that Alexander had bitten Kaiden. Being the Elder he should have known what would happen if one of them had died. All hell would break loose in the community. If Kaiden had died she knew she would have hunted down Alexander and ripped his throat out herself. It wasn't only because she was the Beta and he was her Alpha. She just couldn't picture the pack without him. She couldn't picture him always trying to hit on her like all the other females in the pack.
He hadn't changed, though. That was probably why his wounds were so bad. But she admired him for that. Any other wolf would have changed on the spot and fought him in their Hybrid form. That one act showed that Kaiden was a true Alpha. He thought of everything else before his own well being.
"You were smart not to change. That, and it shows how strong you really are. Any other wolf wouldn't have been able to hold back that urge and we would have a war on our hands. Kaiden, you were strong tonight even if it doesn't feel like it. Now hold still this might sting a little."
She had taken her bowl and pestal and started mixing some herbs she had together to make a paste. They were herbs that had healing powers and would help quicken up his healing factor as well as keep away infection. It stung but it helped. She took some and applied it to the wound on his neck and wrapped it in gauze. Her hand brush his chin and she looked away suddenly and continued onto his other wounds.
She didn't know why she looked away but there was just something different about him now. He had given her advice about her past and her future, had made her Beta, and now he had come to her for help instead of trying to do it himself. There was just something there...

Any other Beta might have thought that this was the perfect chance to get the Alpha spot. He was already hurt and even if he did transform now it would hinder his fight against another one of his kind. But thankfully Keertana was too loyal for that kind of thought process. He had to respect her for that.
He watched Keertana as she worked at his wounds. His breathing was slow and deep, at least until he felt one of his ribs shift then he winced in pain. He listened to her and while that helped, it partly didn't. He still felt like he should have been able to do more but without changing he just didn't have the power.
He tried not to flinch or react to the bandages she was making but he couldn't help it. He winced and squirmed a little but for the most part put up with what she did. "sorry I ruined your night." He smirked a little as he looked at her. He wasn't sure if she had plans or not but he supposed he had interupted something.
He stayed quiet for awhile as she continued to work, he noticed the way she looked away from him for that moment. He wasn't sure what that was about really but he was too tired to really look into it. "You really...think that I made the right choice?"

She looked up from her work and smiled at him. He hadn't ruined her night. She hadn't really been doing anything at all but watching TV. Even if she had been doing something she would have stopped to help him. She shook her head.
"You didn't, Kaiden. If you ever need me I'll be here."
Keertana nodded as he asked her that question. She really did think that he had made the right choice. It showed wisdom and intelligence. Now they could remain living in the community. They wouldn't be forced out and there wouldn't be a war between the races. If Kaiden had changed he would have killed Alexander that was for certain. He was a strong wolf and a good fit for an Alpha.
"I do. You thought about the pack first. I would have done the same thing if I was in your shoes."
She jumped a little as he winced. She had thought that she had hurt him more as she was packing his wounds but then she lifted his shirt and saw the deep bruising on his rib cage. He had to have a few broken ribs. Keertana reached around and grabbed her basket of healing herbs and rummaged through it until she found a certain root she was looking for. She handed it to Kaiden with a small smile.
"Here. Chew on this. It will help with the pain. I can't really do anything else for your ribs. I wish I could though..."
Keertana leaned back on her heels and looked him over. She had done the best she could with his wounds and it would take a day or two before his healing ability struck back up again. The paste she made would help that along faster but he was still in bad shape.

Kaiden took the root from her but snarled at it slightly. He didn't really like the idea of chewing on a root. He was a carnivore not a...rootivore. But he knew listening to her was probably the best idea. So after another little flinch of distaste he went ahead and started to chew on it a little. He still didn't seem too thrilled about it but it wasn't too long before he felt a bit of relief from it like she had promised. Well that was helpful. "Well..then I guess I should get going."
He wasn't going to impose upon her any further, he could always wallow in his defeat at his own house. Of course it would be a solitary wallow, since he wouldn't want any of the girls seeing him like this.
Wait a minute. If he didn't want any of the other females to see him like this, why was it okay for Keertana? He should have felt the same need to keep up his image to her but...he didn't. He had come straight here without a thought and now he was just realizing what he had done. Why was she so different from the rest of them?
He tried not to think about it as he attempted to get himself up from her couch only to grind his teeth in pain and flop back down onto it. Perhaps he wasn't going anywhere after all...

"Oh no! You're not going anywhere. You're in no condition to be alone right now. You're staying here tonight."
It was true. She watched as he tried to get up and he winced and fell back onto the couch. He needed someone with him right now in case he needed anything. He was too stubborn to admit it but she wasn't letting him go anywhere tonight. She would be here if he needed her.
What had changed between them though? She used to hate being around him. He would always hit on her and try and get her to cave into his charm like all the other females in the pack but she never did. Then after that one day when she had spilled everything onto him and he had made her Beta she was seeing him in a different life. She wanted to take care of him. She wanted to make sure that he was alright.
She stood up and walked to the closet where she kept the extra bedding. She found a blanket and walked back into the living room where he was still laying. She shook the blanket out over him. She was going to make sure that he stayed here. Even if she had to sleep in the living room tonight to keep an eye on him.

At least he hit on her! What if he hadn't? Certainly she would have felt insulted.
He frowned a bit as she refused to let him leave. Yea...it was her that stopped him from leaving...all her. He watched as she left and then came back with the blanket then covered him with it. What did he do to deserve this? He picked a fight with a vampire he probably shouldn't have picked a fight with. He could have walked away...the possibility existed. Oh well...now what?
"It's going to be hard to ignore that this happened." He knew that vampire was going to be all smug about it any time that he saw him again. "It's gonna be a ticking bomb just waiting to blow between us."
He grew silent again as his eyes turned up towards the ceiling. This wasn't the start of something good, no this was the start of something that could end very badly. He only hoped that he had the strength to do what was right when it counted in the future.

She sat down on top of the coffee table in front of the couch and listened to him as he talked. This was the beginning of something very bad. She could feel it in her bone. Her wolf paced restlessly and nervously. It knew what was coming even before Keertana knew. She just hoped that it didn't end up like before with her family dying. This pack was her family now and if need be she would kill anything that threatened it. She leaned forward and took his hand and squeezed it. She didn't know why she did it but she did.
"And when it blows you won't be alone."
She knew the whole pack would be behind him when it finally did blow between them. This could possibly turn into an all out war between the werewolves and the vampires but she didn't want it to be. She hated vampires but she didn't want anymore fighting.

Kaiden looked down from the ceiling to see his hand in Keertana's. He stared at their hands for a long moment before he looked up to her face. "No? No...I suppose I wont be." He squeezed her hand in return and while he probably should have pulled his hand away from her, he didn't.
His head turned again to look up at the ceiling. He knew the pack would be with him if something happened, he just hoped nothing would. If this fight happened it wasn't going to be pretty and it would be better for all of them if the fight didn't happen at all. Only time would really tell what would happen to them. Agonizing time...
"We'll keep our cool for now. What's a little scuffle between 'friends'?" He looked to Keertana again. "The pack doesn't need to know about this...we don't need them on edge more than they already are."

"I agree. I already had to break up a few scuffles today."
This kind of news would set the pack off if they found out. Their Alpha being attacked by a Vampire. The head Vampire nonetheless. They had to keep this to themselves no matter what. Well, at least until they couldn't anymore.
Keertana brushed a stray strand of hair out of her eyes and that was when she realized her hand was still in Kaiden's. She looked down at it and just looked. His hand was scratched up and a little bruised. Her was tanned and smooth. His almost completely covered her own hand with how large it was. She wondered why she didn't take her hand away.
"I'm glad your alright, Kaiden. I don't know what I would have done if you weren't..."
She didn't know. She had a feeling that she would be crushed inside and want to go and tear the vampire apart if he had killed Kaiden. She sighed and looked down as she thought about it. Why was she feeling this way?

Well he wouldn't say he was alright. He was living and breatheing, but he didn't believe he was alright but most standards. Was that remorse? For the possibility of him not being around any longer?
"Aww, would you miss me?" He smirked towards her playfully. She was being serious but in his own way, so was he. Did she really care that much? And why did she all of the sudden?
He watched as she sighed and looked down at the floor. Was she really that upset? His hand squeezed hers again. "Hey...things are fine now. I'll be fine...It will take more than one measly vampire to take me down." He smirked to her again, trying to make her feel better. Who was the one that was supposed to be feeling bad now? He didn't like seeing such a sad look upon her...he didn't like it at all. He wanted to see her smiling again, but he wasn't sure exactly how to do that in this situation. He could barely move and all of the 'tricks' in his arsenal didn't work on her. "Don't worry...okay..."
